Classes
Vinyasa Yoga
Our Vinyasa yoga classes focus to create a more well rounded practitioner. Sequences change weekly and focus on breath, strength and mobility. Expect a challenging flow filled with options for all levels however a working knowledge of the basic yoga postures is recommended. Traditional yoga postures will be presented although we often move on and off the mat in ways that fall outside of the yogi perspective.
Slow Flow Yoga
Our Slow Flow Yoga classes are designed for those individuals looking for a slower paced practice, promoting relaxation, openness and breath. Ideal for beginners or those seeking to bring more balance into their hectic lives. Expect a balanced practice of both floor and standing postures.
Mixed Level Flow
A combination of our slow flow sequence for the week mixed with options from our weekly Vinyasa sequence, a mixed bag moving slow enough for beginners to follow with options to challenge the seasoned yogi.
Movement
(Movement classes are NOT yoga classes.) Expect anything! Our Movement program is designed primarily but not limited to the Ido Portal Method. General format of our movement class: body prep as it relates to the material we will be covering. A daily strength/mobility routine compatible to each individual skill set. Here we will cover bent arm and straight arm (BA/SA) pushing and pulling strength, leg strength and mobility work. Arm balancing will also be a regular aspect of our training. We use many tools such as balance pipes, gymnastic rings, tennis balls, barbells, dowels, games and partner work. Weekly and monthly focusses will be posted in the studio. We hope to build a culture of hard workers who seek to progress themselves and dive deeper into their body. Students attending a movement class for the first time are encouraged to call first to see if a movement class is a good first step. Already having a regular physical practice would be recommended before your first movement class.
Intro to Movement
(Movement classes are NOT yoga classes.) Movement is a very new term/idea and therefor many questions surround what exactly a movement class entails. It’s highly recommended that beginners start here before advancing into our regular movement program. This all levels class is designed to introduce the ideas and concepts of our regular movement program at their fundamental level. We will look at such ideas as joint health, building basic components of pushing/pulling and leg strength, mobility, moving our spines, creating healthy shoulders, balance, coordination and much, much more.
All classes are subject to change format at the teachers discretion. Please arrive early if you are new to the studio and signing up online prior is highly encouraged. Barefoot training in all of our classes is also encouraged. Students are welcome to come on time or up to 30 minutes prior for their own self study practice. Please put all cell phones away and set to silent during classes (use of a metronome would be a valid exception), no filming/recording during sessions, notebooks for our movement classes are welcomed. Classes and teachers will be added to the schedule as the studio grows to meet the needs of our practitioners.
